Our Story: Over 45 Years of Canadian Craftsmanship
Au Lit Fine Linens began in 1981 with a simple yet ambitious dream: to help Canadians sleep better.
After travelling through Europe, our founder, Peggy Byron, experienced something that was unheard of in Canada at the time: a great night's sleep on crisp 100% pure cotton sheets, paired with luxurious goose down pillows and duvets. That sleep changed her life. In a time when polyester bedding was the norm in North America, Peggy saw an opportunity to introduce Canadians to a completely different standard of comfort.
As a single mother, Peggy founded Au Lit completely on her own, building a small manufacturing facility in Montreal to make her own sheets. More than four decades later, the majority of our sheets and bedding are still crafted there with the same commitment to quality that inspired our company from the very beginning.
