Q: Do I need a mattress protector?

A: Yes, you do! Not only does a mattress pad make your bed more comfortable, but it’s important for hygienic reasons. Your mattress protector works as a protective barrier between you and your mattress, helping to protect it from stains, and shield you from dirt and dust mites.

Because of our body's natural perspiration during sleep, an unprotected mattress can easily become stained (and messy midnight snacks don't help!). Because you're not able to wash your mattress, using a washable mattress protector can help to keep it clean.

A mattress protector also helps to protect the integrity of the mattress, which helps to prolong its life - a bonus for your wallet. A wool/cotton combo (such as our St. Dormier Mattress Protector) will allow your mattress to breathe, keeping you cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

As practical as mattress protectors are, many of our customers use them primarily for comfort! Not only do they offer extra cushioning (we frequently hear the phrase "sleeping on a cloud"), but they offer extra softness without compromising the support of your mattress.
