How to Choose a Quality Duvet

We care a lot about how you sleep, and choosing a good quality duvet is a big part of that. We also want to make sure you're getting good value.

Here's what you need to know when purchasing a new duvet:

1. The best quality down-fill is white goose down, preferably Canadian or European. Trust the brand you're buying because if you've watched our video, you know that duvets can be stuffed with anything. TIP: Look for the Downmark certification.

2. The quality of down is measured in Loft (Fill Power). A lofting power of 400–450 is considered medium quality, 500-550 is considered good, 550–750 is considered very good, and 750+ is considered excellent. This doesn't mean you can only buy 750+ and up, it's just better to know the difference so you can make a personal choice.

3. The thread-count of the duvet shell should be above 300 thread count sateen. Even though the duvet will be covered, the thread-count affects how your duvet will feel on your body. A silky, light shell allows for the down to move around beautifully and it also won't “crunch” when you move around, as some lower thread-count shells do.

4. We always recommend a baffle-box construction so the down remains evenly spread out. Try to avoid channelled duvets.
